A Very Nice Whirlwind

We just finished a full shop job on this Whirlwind pinball machine. This game is always fun, with the spinners and the callouts, and the fan on top (especially good in Arizona!). And now this one looks even better! Check it out!

Williams came out with Whirlwind in 1990, and produced around 7,000 machines, IPDB reports.

The Pat Lawlor-designed game has a storm-chaser theme, complete with actual fan atop the head that blows during bonus modes. “Feel the power of the wind!”

We pulled everything off the playfield on this one, to be polished, buffed, tumbled, or otherwise cleaned.

We put everything back together, made a few mechanical and cosmetic fixes, and viola!

We also installed full LEDs: insert, GI, and, flashers. Even the translite has a beautiful glow now.
