Black Hole Shop Job Posted on October 21, 2014January 8, 2024 by Kris Bliznick We finished a quick shop job on this Black Hole recently for our friend Art. This is always a fun game, and the quick shop job made it even better. Enjoy it, Art! Gottlieb came out with this game in 1981. There were 8,774 units produced, IPDB reports. Notable, of course, for the backbox animation. The spinning disc produces a cool effect– when it’s still working. We almost never find them operable in machines anymore. We fixed a few things mechanically, and did a few touchups on the playfield. No LEDs in this one. The other notable feature–the sunken second playfield. IPDB reports that Black Hole was the first machine to offer a lower playfield sloped away from the player with the flippers at the backbox end.
